War is profitable: the wars in Gaza and Ukraine

The wars in Gaza and Ukraine are not just tragic; they are a moral outrage, and yet again, we see who benefits from this suffering. It’s the same story we’ve seen time and time again: the wealthy and powerful profit while ordinary people suffer. Defense contractors like Honeywell, Northrop Grumman, and others are profiting billions of dollars from these conflicts. And this is just unacceptable. According to a recent report in El PaĆs , the stock values of these major defense companies have skyrocketed due to the wars in Ukraine and Gaza. Let’s think about what that means for a second. These companies are making a killing—literally and figuratively—off of human suffering. When bombs drop and people are killed or displaced, their profits go up. That is the disgusting reality of our military-industrial complex. We have to ask ourselves: who is the government really serving? Harris and Trump Debate: What Was Not Mentioned

I would be remiss not to mention that this post falls on September 11, the anniversary of the 2001 attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City. Neither candidate acknowledged this pivotal moment in U.S. history. Yet, the specter of American imperialism, and its consequences, remains a topic neither candidate dares to address. Key Issues Not Addressed by Vice President Kamala Harris During the debate, several important issues were conspicuously absent from Vice President Kamala Harris’s statements, despite being of significant concern to Progressives: Income Inequality : The gap between the wealthy and the poor has only widened in recent year...

Harris's Vow to Lower Food Prices: Empty Promises?

It is commendable for Vice President Kamala Harris to pledge to lower food prices, a pressing issue for many Americans. However, she fails to address a critical factor: both her fellow Democrats and Republicans have been significantly influenced by food processing companies and major grocery store chains. These corporations have made substantial political contributions, raising questions about the sincerity of political leaders' commitments to addressing rising food costs. According to data from OpenSecrets , food processing companies and grocery store chains are major political donors, contributing millions of dollars to both parties. Some of the largest contributors include Tyson Foods, Kroger, and Albertsons. While these companies have historically contributed more to conservative candidates, particularly former President Donald Trump, they have also supported Democratic politicians, including Vice President Harris. The influence of these contributions is far from benign. ...
