Trump and Vance are puppets of the oligarcy

Despite their populist rhetoric, both Donald Trump and J.D. Vance serve as mere puppets for the oligarchy. Trump, a billionaire who claims to champion the cause of the common people, has done little actually improve their lives. While he frequently denounces immigration as the root cause of America's problems, his policies have largely favored the rich. One glaring example is the massive 2017 tax cut, which disproportionately benefited corporations and the wealthiest individuals. Among his most vocal supporters are some of the richest people in the United States, including figures like Elon Musk. Trump has even openly admitted that financial contributions influence his decisions, famously saying, "When they give, I do whatever the hell they want." His environmental policies, including pushing for more oil drilling and denying the reality of climate change, further reveal his commitment to corporate interests, not the welfare of everyday Americans.

J.D. Vance, despite portraying himself as a voice for the working class, is deeply embedded in the world of venture capital and supported by a network of tech elites. He, too, aligns with powerful oligarchic interests, despite his attempts to present a different image. His involvement with Project 2025, a far-right initiative that seeks to reshape the U.S. government, only underscores his role in promoting the same authoritarian agenda that Trump pushes.

Despite the reality of their policies, Trump’s base—and even some on the political sidelines—remain convinced that he can cure the economic woes of the country and bring an end to conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine. His followers have been captivated by his message and the far-right ideology that underpins it. Instead of engaging with legitimate political discourse, many of his supporters dismiss opposing views with derogatory terms like "libtards" and embrace a web of conspiracy theories, often promoted by Trump and his surrogates.

Both Trump and Vance serve as vanguards for an oligarchy that aims to dismantle American democracy and push the country toward fascism. However, in response to this threat, a pro-democracy movement is beginning to take shape. This movement is supported by figures from both sides of the aisle, with Vice President Kamala Harris and Congressman Michael Waltz emerging as prominent leaders. If Trump wins the next election, this movement will need to act as a powerful opposition, resisting any further erosion of democratic principles. If he loses, it will be crucial for this coalition to ensure that Trump and his supporters do not destabilize the country in their attempt to hold onto power.

At this critical juncture in U.S. history, we, as citizens, must stand united against the oligarchic takeover of our government. The upcoming election may be one of the most consequential in our nation’s history, and it is imperative that everyone exercises their right to vote. Supporting Harris, Waltz, and others who stand for democracy, while voting for a straight Democratic ticket at the national level (and selectively for local Republicans who have demonstrated integrity), is essential to safeguarding our future. This is a pivotal moment. As Americans, we have the power to make a difference and must act to ensure that democracy prevails over oligarchy.

The rise of Trump and the far-right is a sympton of a deeply flawed system

The rise and sustained support of Donald Trump, a figure who embodies authoritarian tendencies and blatant disregard for democratic norms, is not an aberration. It is, in fact, a predictable consequence of the broader structural failings embedded within the U.S. political and economic system. To understand the appeal of Trump and the movement he represents, we must look beyond personality and rhetoric. We need to interrogate the underlying socioeconomic conditions, the failures of political institutions, and the deep sense of alienation felt by a significant portion of the population.   The Crisis of Neoliberalism and Economic Dispossession   At the core of Trump's support lies the crisis of neoliberal capitalism—a system that has systematically dismantled the social safety nets, eroded labor rights, and concentrated wealth in the hands of a small elite. Over the past four decades, both major political parties have embraced neoliberal policies, from deregulati...

Trump should be in jail, not running for President

Donald Trump should be in jail, not running for President. His persistent denial of losing the 2020 Presidential election, along with his outrageous claim that the riot atthe Capitol was a “love fest,” should be enough to disqualify him from seeking public office. Additionally, he has been found liable for using hush money to silence Stormy Daniels to keep their affair out of the news during his 2020 campaign. These are not the actions of someone who respects the rule of law or democratic norms.   Furthermore, Trump’s allies, like J.D. Vance, perpetuate dangerous falsehoods, such as the claim that the election was stolen by “big tech” conspiracies. There is no doubt that Trump, Vance, and their surrogates are working toward a political agenda that leans heavily on authoritarian tactics—sowing distrust, undermining institutions, and promoting conspiracy theories to consolidate power. These are hallmark strategies of authoritarian regimes that weaken democratic processes an...

What is the deep state?

The term "deep state" refers to the idea that there is a hidden network of powerful and unelected officials within government agencies, intelligence services, and bureaucracies that secretly manipulate or control government policy, often without the knowledge or approval of elected leaders. It suggests that this clandestine group works behind the scenes to preserve the status quo, regardless of changes in political leadership, and that they may undermine or subvert the democratic process. In the U.S., the concept of the "deep state" gained prominence during Donald Trump’s presidency , with Trump and his allies frequently accusing career officials in the FBI , CIA , State Department , and other government agencies of working against his administration. They argued that the "deep state" was actively resisting Trump's policies and attempting to undermine his authority. This idea became a common refrain in Trump’s speeches, particularly when addressing ...
